it all depends whether you want the clip ins the glue ins or the weave ones glue gives you bald patches after a while and is quite hard to wash clips ins are so simple and you can put them in an take them out when you feel like it weave ones are really expensive and can give you bald patches (i think) make sure you buy the real hair ones tho as the synthetic ones get matted up easily and you cannot straighten or curl it as it singes it ....:)
References :
well, it all depends on how you get them done
you can weave them it, glue them in, or you can get clip in ones.
and how well you take care of them, and what brand you get

when i got mine i got the Sassy Silky Straight 18 inch hair extensions
and i didn't fully blow dry them, so they got moldy
about half of my real hair fell out, they were constantly tangled, and i ended up taking them out after a month (they were weaved in)

so, it all just depends, but on average i think its about 6 months? i think
